After the military, Kelvin spent one year as a police officer and quickly realized that the real frontline was in our classrooms. He turned-in his badge, passed the praxis exam and enlisted to become a high school teacher. Kelvin taught math--algebra and geometry-earning special recognition as an highly effective teacher two years in a row. As your Ward 7 Councilmember, Kelvin will stand-up for educational policies that meet our students at their places of need and teaches them the right skills to earn a good living wage.

Testifying before the DC Council

Currently, Kelvin manages a multi-million dollar affordable housing portfolio for Fannie Mae, working to alleviate the cost of housing as a burden for working families and people of color in urban communities throughout the US. His work in this field provides Kelvin with first-hand knowledge of best practices taking place across the country, which is why he believes rent control is an important discussion that has been missing from the conversation around affordable housing. On the DC Council, Kelvin will advocate for policies that meet people at their places of need.
