I want to quickly introduce myself, my name is Kelvin Brown. I’m your neighbor, I live right at Austin and Bangor Streets, SE in the Hillcrest community and I’m running to represent you as your Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner (ANC) for Single Member District 7B06.
I grew up in a poor, working class family where I realized early on that education was my pathway up and out of poverty. I received a presidential scholarship to Alabama State University and today I possess a bachelor's degree in criminal law and master’s degree in business administration.
I spent most of my adult life protecting our country from dangers overseas, serving nearly 10 years as a Sergeant in the United States Army, being deployed on three different missions during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and the Global War on Terrorism Campaign -- and was honored to receive the US Army Achievement Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Professionally, I manage a multi-million affordable housing portfolio for Fannie Mae working to create a better quality of life for under-served communities all across the US.
Hillcrest has been my home for nearly a decade, and I plan to spend the rest of my life here working to make sure that our community is always involved in the decision-making process and our ideas and opinions are always valued.
To be clear, I am asking for your support in this race. Together—I know that we can create better a better community and improved solutions that will keep our community first. I humbly ask for your vote and support in the upcoming Nov. 3, 2020 General Election.
